Lemon & Olives: A Taste of the Mediterranean in Baguio City

Posted by

This Greek taverna is a hidden gem along Outlook Drive that transports you straight to the Mediterranean with its authentic Greek flavors and charming ambiance. Operating since 2016, the taverna is headed by Chef Takis who is from Athens. My visit to this popular restaurant was nothing short of delightful, and here’s a glimpse of my experience.

The Atmosphere

As you step into Lemon & Olives, you’re greeted by a cozy yet sophisticated vibe. The restaurant features a mix of rustic wooden interiors and large windows that offer a breathtaking view of Baguio’s lush greenery. If you’re lucky, snagging a spot on the terrace allows you to dine with the backdrop of pine trees and a cool mountain breeze—an experience that feels like a serene escape from the city.

The Food

The highlight, of course, is the food. Lemon & Olives stays true to Greek culinary traditions, offering an extensive menu filled with classic dishes. Here are some of the foods we tried:

Hummus. For starters, we have the creamy and flavourful hummus. The dip is made from chickpeas, olive oil, lemon, garlic, and tahini.
(PhP 200)
Evia Salad. The salad includes pomegranate pearls, dried greek figs, walnuts and feta cheese tossed with mixed greens and a sweet balsamic reduction.
(PhP 370 solo, PhP 510 to share)
Greek Salad. Fresh tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, onions, olives and lots of feta cheese on top. Add some black pepper and it’s a perfect appetizer. (PhP 300)
Mediterranean Pasta. This is so good. Olive oil-based pasta with capers, garlic, basil, olives, seafood, parmesan cheese, and garlic bread. (PhP 450)
Poikilia. The platter is so good that we finished them all!
This is a plate of assorted appetizers such as Greek village sausage, spicy soutzouki sausage, saganaki cheese, tzatziki dip and pita bread. (PhP 430)
Lamb Chops. Perfectly cooked lamb with less fat and sinew. Served with vegetables and plain rice. (Php 2600 for two, PhP 4810 for four).
Baklava Cheesecake. Loved this fun twist of a traditional Greek dessert. It’s has a creamy cheesecake layer and the classic baklava inspired nut filling. (Php 220)

The Service

The staff at Lemon & Olives were attentive and knowledgeable, helping us navigate the menu and making recommendations that suited our taste. Despite being a busy day, our food arrived promptly and freshly prepared. But on the other side, this is not a good place for a quick lunch after shopping, the waiting queue is quite long especially on the weekends.

The Price

While Lemon & Olives is on the pricier side compared to other local Baguio restaurants, the portions are generous, and the quality of food and ambiance justify the cost. It’s a great spot for special occasions or when you simply want to treat yourself.

Final Thoughts

Lemon & Olives is more than just a restaurant—it’s a culinary journey to the Mediterranean without leaving the Philippines. With its delicious food, stunning views, and cozy ambiance, it’s a must-visit when you’re in Baguio City. Whether you’re a fan of Greek cuisine or just looking for a unique dining experience, Lemon & Olives won’t disappoint.
